A Karamojong girl runs to class in Naitakwaé Town.
Free primary education has raised enrolment rates to 83 per cent in Uganda. Still, children – especially girls – of the semi-nomadic pastoralist Karamojongs face additional barriers to education; less than 40 per cent of the community’s children attend school. A UNICEF-supported non-formal educational model, sensitive to Karamojong culture, is helping to boost enrolment.

Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton of D.C. received 89 percent of the vote in her last election, yet anti-choice lawmakers refused to allow her to testify on a bill that specifically targets women in D.C.
This is another Sandra Fluke moment.

Oh, look, DC women being used as a political pawn by fucking assholes WHO DON’T LIVE HERE.
I PAY MY FUCKING TAXES, I WANT MY FUCKING REPRESENTATION.

I love Mrs.Norton. I vote for her every time she’s up for election. She loves DC. Rep. Norton IS DC (born & raised here). She works HARD for us, especially Poor Black women & children. Congress treats her like shit and by extension, the rest of us too.
